Endemic Architecture

About

Endemic Architecture is led by Clark Thenhaus and is jointly based in Alameda, California and Denver, Colorado. With a record of work spanning residential, commercial, & institutional projects, we work with clients on specific architectural interests or projects. Yet, sometimes we work on research interests through drawings, research, or public installations and exhibitions. With each undertaking, Endemic Architecture:

1. seeks to elicit delight and curiosity through architectural form, space, and order with a commitment to the social, cultural, and experiential aspects of architecture.
2. looks to exaggerate, manipulate, abstract, or pervert ‘the familiar’ in order to convene alternative forms of attention through architectural expressions and experiences.
3. prefers pluralism and mixed meanings over fixed messages, thus fostering open interpretations and multiple associations.
4. conveys the particularities affiliated with specific contexts and situations through architectural expressions.
5. conveys a commitment to working on the intellectual dimension of architecture’s received histories, theories, representations, techniques, and forms.
