At the request of the creative director of Goldenvoices Coachella Music & Art Festival, we developed three proposals for a large scale installation for the 2020 festival in Coachella Valley; a collection of dome-like figures clustered together, a dome, and five houses on stilts. Each proposal abstracts the familiar archetype of a dome or a house to create visually associative forms from afar and  volumetric spaces from up-close and underneath. Their materiality similarly abstracts familiar materials such as shingles and plaster into something ‘almost familiar’.  While none of these proposals were selected for the 2020 festival, don’t be surprised if they reappear in varied forms elsewhere...
