For this thought exercise we used techniques of “composite averaging” and collage to create hybrid expressions of the well-known ranch house type. Using five run-of-the mill ranch houses and collaging them together, so to speak, what interests us is the possibility for an architecture composed of familiar parts that when composed in a high-density ways become estranged, or ‘almost familiar’.
