Each version of the 'Confetti Plan Houses' begins by simultaneously dropping 11 pieces of printed paper that have been cut into shapes containing the layout of a specific room; living, bed, cooking, eating, hallway, etc. The haphazard relationships (evoking confetti) of the rooms provides a 'loosening' effect with unpredictable alignments, distributed in-between spaces, and unconventional spatial adjacencies. The paper drop-models are then redrawn, merging and smoothing any overlaps and creating thresholds where necessary. In elevation / section, however, heights vary, roofs change, new geometries are introduced, and new relationships to the ground are imagined as if the confetti plan is for a second, or elevated, floor (in the later versions).
